doctorlink - a new online solution

The Light surgery is soon to start trialling a new product called doctorlink that enables patients to take control of their own care 24/7 and ensure they access the correct level of clinical care when they need it.

What is doctorlink?

  • doctorlink is an accredited symptom checker that can be accessed from any web enabled device 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

  • doctorlink provides the ability to seek clinically approved medical advice around the clock. This helps to reduce unnecessary surgery appointments and will provide advice on how to best manage your symptoms

  • doctorlink facilitates booking an appointment should a clinical consultation be recommended

How does it work?

  • doctorlink uses a Symptom Assessment tool to perform e-triage on patients who access the practice online looking for an urgent/same day appointment.
  • The outcomes of the symptom assessment are processed according to the clinical need. If a clinical consultation is recommended the patient will be booked into an appointment slot appropriate to the symptom assessment outcome (e.g. telephone consultation with a nurse practitioner within next 48 hours, same day face to face consultation with a GP).
  • The practice will receive a copy of the all the symptom assessment outputs just as they would following an out of hours 111 consultation.
  • As doctorlink is accessible 24/7 it is able to cater for both in and out of hours scenarios directing people to either 111 or the surgery as appropriate.
  • For more information on doctor link please download FAQs document and register now.!

Friends and Family Test at the Light Surgery

91% of patients at the Light Surgery would recommend the service to family and friends.

This figure was taken from our NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) which is the patient questionnaire we use to help us to understand whether our patients are happy with the services we provide. The FFT is a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.

If you would like to complete your own FFT or to view more results simply click here.

Practice Learning Time

To ensure that our clinical and administrative teams are always well equipped to deliver excellent care we close The Light Surgery for an afternoon once a month so we can hold training and update sessions for all our staff.

The Surgery will be closed to patients from 12.00pm on the following dates;

29 June 2017 | 20 July 2017 | 7 September 2017 | 12 October 2017 | 9 November 2017 | 11 January 2018 | 1 February 2018 | 8 March 2018 |

Your named GP

Here at the Light Surgery we have nominated a named GP to be accountable for the care of each of our patients. The purpose of this is to ensure that our patients have a named individual who they know is responsible for the overall care they receive at the surgery.

Having a named GP assigned to you DOES NOT mean that you are obliged to see that GP; you are welcome to continue to make appointments to see any of the GPs at the surgery.

If you would like to know the name of the GP who is accountable for overseeing your care, please contact the surgery and we will be more than happy to inform you.

Meningitis B Vaccine - update

We are currently experiencing a national shortage of the Meningitis B vaccine Bexsero which means we are unable to start any new courses of the vaccine. We are however operating a waiting list for all those who wish to be vaccinated. If you would like to join our waiting list, please contact our reception team on 0113 242 7425.

We are not yet able to advise a timeframe of when the vaccines will be available, although we have been informed supply will remain low until the summer of this year. We will send regular updates to patients on the waiting list. If your child has already started a course of Meningitis B vaccine with us, we will honour the remainder of that course as a priority.

Please note: This shortage applies to private vaccinations only – those children who’re eligible and deemed as most at risk will still be vaccinated under the NHS programme.
