New Paediatric Urgent Care Clinic launches at Bracknell Urgent Care Centre
New Paediatric Urgent Care Clinic at Bracknell Urgent Care Centre
Young patients in Bracknell will benefit from quick access to urgent care thanks to a new paediatric urgent care clinic which has been launched at the Bracknell Urgent Care Centre in September.
Unwell children under 18 with urgent minor illnesses could be referred to the clinic by their GP practice or NHS 111 to receive fast assessment and treatment from a specially trained paediatric nurse practitioner.
The aim of the service is to support GP practices by offering a limited number of booked appointments for children with non-critical illness that has developed within the last 72 hours and needs a same day medical assessment and possible treatment. Some examples of acute minor illness that the clinic can treat include:
- Upper respiratory tract infections, coughs, colds
- Sore throat
- Abdominal discomfort
- Itching, rashes and other skin problems
This is a referral-only service: if your child needs to be seen at this clinic, they will be referred by NHS 111 or their GP practice.
Children under 18 can still be see at the Bracknell Urgent Care Centre for urgent but not life-threatening illness. No appointment is needed, just walk-in.
